We Have A ‘Thor 2′ Villain: Christopher Eccleston To Play Malekith The Accursed
EXCLUSIVE: Christopher Eccleston has been set for the villain role in Marvel Studios’ Thor: The Dark World, starring opposite Chris Hemsworth in the role of Malekith The Accursed. If you don’t know who
Malekith is, your Hall H privileges at Comic-Con are officially suspended. He is a super-villain in the Marvel Universe, the ruler of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim. In the Marvel Comics, he clashed mightily with Thor, and will go up against the hammer-wielding son of Odin in the film directed by Game of Thrones‘ Alan Taylor. He once wielded the Casket of Ancient Winters. We know Eccleston from Doctor Who, and he is repped by Principal Entertainment.

So now the “Dark World” subtitle is a bit more clear..
As I recall Eccleston was also Destro in G.I Joe; Rise of Cobra
Interesting to hear that Malekith is the main villain, which I kind of saw coming after the subtitle was announced, but it is absolutely awesome to hear that the Ninth Doctor is going to be playing the role. He’s definitely got the tall lanky appearance to fit the role, and he’s a talented actor. This has definitely got me excited about this movie.
There’s only one thing you can say about this…. FANTASTIC!
Excellent Who reference. I love it.
SWEET…….
Awesome casting news, but I am still sad that Mads Mikkelsen had to drop out.
Now all we need in a Thor movie is Beta Ray Bill.
Good casting.
Wow, I guess I’ll have to give you my Hall H entrance badge, despite having lined up the night before. I’d never heard of Malekith, but I was hoping for an appearance by the Enchantress.
An appearance by Enchantress might not be TOTALLY out of the question? But it’s really interesting to learn that Malekith will be the main threat, it’s where my head went immediately after hearing “The Dark World”. I think Taylor’s going to do a really good job with this…
Great! I’ve been waiting to see more of the good Doctor since his short story arch in Heroes.
Ooh, who was he? I saw Heroes, but as it aired and I just wached Doctor who recently so I never made the connection!
He played the man that could make himself invisible.
He was the invisible man at the end of season 1
Awe. Some.
We also know him from ‘Jude’.
