Fox Exec Commits $1M for UCLA Brain Cancer Research

Ted Gagliano, president of post-production at 20th Century Fox Studios, was attending UCLA Neurosurgery’s Visionary Ball last year on the same night one of his close friends was undergoing surgery to remove a deadly brain tumor. During the dinner, a patient at each table stood up and shared how a UCLA neurosurgeon had saved his or her life. Gagliano, who oversaw post-production for movies including Avatar and Titanic, said those patients motivated his $1M pledge. The funds will help further the research of Dr. Linda Liau, whose team has developed a vaccine that trains a patient’s immune system to recognize and destroy brain cancer cells. Gagliano also is on the UCLA Department of Neurosurgery’s board of advisers. (Photo: Getty Images)

  • Way to go Ted- You’re a true humanitarian. Now, will any other studio execs step up and match his donation?

  • Bravo Ted. What a wonderful thing to do, particularly within the narcissistic world in which you work. Hopefully others will follow in your suit.

  • A big Thank You.

Brain cancer research needs get all the help it can get.

There is no cure and patients need some hope.

The most common form of brain cancer (GBM) is usually fatal in about a year, and that’s with treatment.

  • All the best people work in Post. And unsung hero does something heroic.

You would never get this from the studio heads or the Producers. They only raise other people’s money.

    Bravo Ted. Inspiring.
