Johnny Depp To Star In Wes Anderson’s Next Film ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’
EXCLUSIVE: Johnny Depp will star in The Grand Budapest Hotel, the next film that Wes Anderson wrote and will direct.
Anderson is going right back into business with his collaborators onĀ Moonrise Kingdom, which is heading toward a $40 million gross to be among this summer’s art house hits.
The Grand Budapest Hotel will be produced by Anderson along with Scott Rudin and Indian Paintbrush’s Steven Rales. UTA reps Depp and Anderson.
This comes as Depp continues to work on The Lone Ranger for Disney. He stars in that Gore Verbinski-directed film with Armie Hammer, and response was strong to scenes unveiled during Disney’s panel at Comic-Con over the weekend. Depp will likely make this next; plans for him to star in The Thin Man for Rob Marshall have been pushed for the time being.
Rales is doing some good things! Way to go.
Two out of UTA’s five interesting clients.
sad, but true
Maybe so, but give Depp credit for not jumping to a bigger ship.
(He certainly hasn’t needed one but props, nontheless.)
It feels like Wes has the need to see everything remade in his “image”. Even if it’s Bill Murray again.
This is an inspired pairing.
Agreed! I’m actually looking forward to this collaboration. Even the title of the film is intriguing.
Anything that gets between Depp and Tim Burton is a good thing. Time for a long break, boys.
This is great news! Anderson’s latest, MOONRISE KINGDOM, is one of the best films of the year. Depp is incredible when directed by filmmakers that are precise. Excited about this.
Just be sure to hide the makeup box and all pictures of Kieth Richards from Depp.
That Depp dude is so full of himself, I am surprised his head doesnt explode.

Yup. Another Wes Anderson movie where all the actors are having a great time thinking they are hilarious, but the paying audience is left confused, bored, and feeling gypped.
And you say that why? Just making it up?
Seems like a humble and accomplished guy to me. Dying to know why you decided otherwise.
You’re kidding right?!!!!!!!
Not sure about Depp in a WA film. Depp’s “comedy” has always been extremely self conscious and that seems to be the opposite of what works about WA’s comedy.
Also, I am a hard core WA fan but don’t see what all the fuss is over Moonrise Kingdom.
I love Moonrise Kingdom so I’ll be looking forward to this.
