Seth MacFarlane Says “I’d Be Open To Making Ted 2″: Comic-Con
Seth MacFarlane might be making a sequel to Ted. “I’d be open to making Ted 2,” the director today told fans at the American Dad panel at Comic-Con. MacFarlane didn’t elaborate on the possibility of he and Ted co-star Mark Wahlberg’s reunion. However, the fact that the film, which was released on June 29, has become one of the the biggest R-Rated comedies at the box office, a sequel makes sense.
Earlier on the panel, it was announced that Mad Men’s Jon Hamm will join Danny
Glover, Sarah Michelle Geller, Harry Potter’s Rupert Grint, Danny Glover and former SNL cast member Will Forte as guest stars on the new season of American Dad. The guest stars announcement came on the American Dad panel that immediately followed the Family Guy panel in Comic-Con’s Ballroom 20 today.
MacFarlane, who is also Family Guy’s executive producer, creator and star also told the fans that his Flintstones reboot isn’t dead but it’s really not a priority right now. “It’s been put on the backburner, so we don’t know when it is going to happened. There’s no exact schedule,” said MacFarlane. In April Deadline reported that the reboot, which had been fast tracked to series by Fox in May 2012, was on hold due to the Ted director’s overcrowded schedule.
The panel today included Family Guy main cast members MacFarlane, Alex Bornstein, Mila Kunis, Seth Green, Mike Henry as well as showrunner Steve Callaghan. After a Comic-Con absence of a few years, Kunis, who starred in Ted, got big cheers as did Green’s lip locking with Callaghan, but it was nothing compared to the thunderous entrance MacFarlane, a frequent Comic-Con attendee, received.
Before the cast came out fans were treated to a 5-minute video of scenes from the upcoming 10th season of Family Guy,which debuts on September 30. There’s a Mount Everest adventure that goes wrong in the September season premiere. Other shows include a time travel episode plus a strip bar visit, a Spider-Man cameo and lots of vomit in there as well. The American Dad featured MacFarlane plus Wendy Schaal, Scott Grimes, Rachael MacFarlane, Dee Bradley Baker, Mike Barker, and Matt Weitzman. Both Family Guy and American Dad’s new seasons premiere on September 30.
Flintstones on the backburner means he couldn’t make it work.
Flintstones on the backburner is good news. The last thing we need is some snarky, modern remake with 100 jokes and cutaways a minute. You want the real Flintstones, buy the DVDs.
Ted #1 sucked, glad it made money so Donna can keep her job
Emma Watts should lose her job she passed on Ted which was stupid. Seth gave Fox first look at the script and they didn’t think it was funny or commercial. I’m glad the movie got made it’s inventive and original. A sequel would be very profitable.
I agree with Fox. But for an ADD generation who doesn’t really care much about character development and wants free association jokes that are mildly amusing, FAMILY GUY and TED are money in the bank. I just shudder to think about the next generation of screenwriters (who will probably be less talented than Seth) that TED is going to “inspire.”
What a DF
OMG, Ted was the funniest movie in years. Continuous laughs through the whole movie. I can’t wait for the next adverture with Ted, he’s the funniest living plush toy in the world.
why are comedians’ material so gross, base of late, and not funny, more political than anything else? I don’t care for Family Guy. And there’s very few funny movies anymore.
Flash was a gas…the seduction scene at the grocery store was gagworthy…the hooker sh++ cleanup gotta chuckle…but it beats the stuffing outta me why Ted’ll get a sequel.
Anyone that didn’t like TED can….as said in the Thunderbuddy song….can suck my dick!!!
Funniest movie to come along in years! Even friends from Scotland thought it was hysterical. Seth MacFarland….you’re a genius!
