Charlie Sheen Cast As U.S. President in Robert Rodriguez’s ‘Machete Kills’
Charlie Sheen announced today that he’s returning to the big screen. The Wall Street star has joined the cast of Robert Rodriguez’s Machete Kills as the President of the United States. While it’s not a big role in the sequel to 2010′s Machete, both Sheen and the director announced the casting on their respective Twitter pages. “I just cast Charlie Sheen in #machetekills as the President of the United States! Who better? More soon..” Rodriguez tweeted this afternoon and posted a photo of himself and Sheen. “My fellow Americans,” said Sheen in presidential mode as he retweeted Rodriguez’s post. Fellow Hollywood hellraiser Mel Gibson had also been cast in Machete Kills. In the sequel, Machete, played again by Danny Trejo, is drafted by the U.S. government to track an arms dealer through Mexico before he launches a weapon from space. While he has mainly stuck to TV with Spin City, Two and a Half Men and the upcoming Anger Management in recent years, Sheen has made a a series of cameos in movies like Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, where he briefly appeared uncredited as his Bud Fox character from the 1987 original. Sheen also appeared, as Men‘s Charlie Harper in 2011′s Due Date. Sheen’s new Anger Management series premieres on FX on June 28. Machete Kills is expected to be released in 2013.
Watched the pilot of Anger Management last night. Unbelievably bad. Unwatchable. It must have been written by two 10th graders who grew up on Two and a Half Men. That’s the only explanation.
None of the actors commit to any of their lines, even though they all obviously need the gig. It has the freshness of that unfunny guy in the office who still says “winning.”
Really ? I did read several reviews who like it although seemed to think it was too ‘safe’ for a cable, edgy network like FX..However press and critics don’t like to say anything nice about Sheen, so not sure i trust any of their ‘opinion’..i will watch by myself ‘Gansta Lean’ (gangsta ? really ? LMAO)
That is an amazing statement. I definitely know a few guys that still say winning. Gross.
What, no Lindsay Lohan?
Charlie Sheen AND Mel Gibson? Heaven help the women on set.
Ha, true.
Those casting people must have gotten Charlie Sheen mixed up with Martin Sheen.
It is Rodriguez who tweet it himself dumbass.
It was a joke. Martin Sheen played the prez in the TV series The West Wing.
Would have done better casting Martin Sheen.
Are people really clamoring for another Machete movie? Seriously, I had no idea it was a franchise.
Oh, my God, “Machete” RULES. It definitely has a fan base. It’s a cult film already. Plus, Rodriguez made it for next to nothing.
It’s weird how Rodriguez is so eager to work with legendarily difficult actors.
Charlie Sheen is not difficult on set, his troubles come from his behaviour or alleged behaviour OFF-screen.
Will this go straight to DVD? Or will it have some 5-7 million opening weekend and then some 13-15 millions overall? They will spend more money on advertising then this movie will get at box-office.
Where is Lindsay Lohan? She is the only crazy idiot who is missing here. Mel Gibson, Charlie Sheen… Lohan should be cast too. And Kardashain. And Octomom. And Snooki…
bitter bitter..shy, move on it is pathetic shy..
Lohan was in the last movie. They need Debbie the Pet Lady this time to fight against Mel Gibson and Charlie Sheen.
She was already in the first one.
It was made for next to nothing. Besides, this may be hard for you to GRASP, but movies are also made without the expressed intent of making a fortune at the box office. They’re made for specific audiences who love a certain kind of movie. Get your head out of your bank-owned ass.
Rodriquez needs to get back to Sin City form — it’s the only good film he’s made.
Actually he did better in the Spy Kid Movies but when you lie like a 10 year old to your fans and the public you understand why he fits in with kids so well.
Gibson and Sheen in a movie together: Awesome
