Stan Lee Doc ‘With Great Power’ Headed For Special Theater Screenings

With Great Power: The Stan Lee Story MovieEXCLUSIVE: The multiplatform national release of the documentary With Great Power: The Stan Lee Story includes special theatrical screenings Wednesday in Pasadena; Austin; Scottsdale, Ariz.; Fairview, Texas; Bolingbrook and South Barrington, Ill.; Redmond, Wash.; and Glendale, Wyo. The deal for the 1821 Pictures movie comes after Epix HD acquired the rights during this year’s Slamdance Film Festival; the channel showed the film about the life of the superhero king over the weekend during a Marvel Superheroes promotion. The movie will screen via iPic Entertainment, with Lee participating from Pasadena in a live-streamed Q&A with audiences at each of the venues. The doc will hit VOD and other digital platforms May 8 in a deal with FilmBuff. WME negotiated the deals on behalf of the filmmakers.

  • Also saw it at Vail. Fun film, but I have to disagree and say it was not particularly well done. More like… kinda cheaply done. The music was terrible and it was a by the number doc. Sort of felt like a promotional piece paid for by Stan Lee’s newest digital media company.

But one thing for sure, Stan Lee shines. I never knew much about him other than the characters he had created and he’s a charming guy. And his wife is charming too. That alone made it a good film, but not a great doc by any means.

  • So jealous that some can see it and others can’t. Does anyone know when it will be on Blu-ray? I really would love to have this for myself. I will try to watch on VOD if it’s offered where I live but it would be better on the big screen.
