  • Anyone else think that they lightened up the tone to compete with the Avengers? This TV spot seems less sullen than the last theatrical trailer.

    • In terms of tone, it seems about on par with the TV ad campaign they ran for The Dark Knight in 2008.

  • After watching the terrific Avengers movie, comic book movies like The Amazing Spider-man and The Dark Knight Rises have lost their appeal for me. I just can’t see them being anywhere near as great as The Avengers.

    • Yeah, you should totally skip both movies. You can just spend the rest of the summer thinking about how much you enjoyed the pithy dialogue in Avengers. If it’s okay with you, though, I’m probably going to watch – and enjoy – The Dark Knight Rises.

    • Yeah remember that scene where Hawkeye SHOOTS AN ALIEN WITH A BOW AND ARROW WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING THAT WAS SO COOL I’LL NEVER WATCH ANOTHER MOVIE AGAIN

    • You’re joking right? The Avengers was good summer popcorn fun…reminds me of bubblegum. Get out for some fresh air…you clearly need it…

    • Yeah, there’s no way DKR could possibly be as good as Avengers.

I’m sorry, I can’t say that without an involuntary smirk, giggle or eye roll.

    • I think you misunderstand… the bar for comic book movies was not raised by the Avengers but by The Dark Knight back in 2008. Avengers was a great film, but I’m confident this movie will uphold the pedigree of its predecessor. If you don’t see it because of some misplaced loyalty to the Avengers (loyalty? To a film? Really?), it will be your loss.

      • Wrong. IRON MAN set the bar in 2008 and laid the groundwork for The Avengers.

The Dark Knight was massively overhyped and overlong, and the death of Heath Ledger–AND ONLY THAT–is what pushed its box office. Period. The movie itself was just OK, albeit better than Batman Begins. The Dark Knight Rises looks to be about the same as the last one, IMO.

        Put the kool-aid down, nerds.

    • Go read Cameron’s comment on the Paramount Transformers 3 lawsuit article. The two of you are neck and neck for the worst comments on deadline today.

Good for you, you can watch Magic Mike over and over again.

  • They’ve definitely lightened up the tone. WB have been seriously spooked by the Avengers juggernaut. A few months ago it seemed like The Avengers would merely be the early summer appetizer for TDKR. Now it looks like TDKR will merely be the dessert for The Avengers.

  • Agreed. The final TV spots always seem to ramp up the “Cool” and always end with a Christopher Nolan version of a joke. This goes back to BATMAN BEGINS.

  • Ahhhh the Nolanites are spreading! Either that or some people have some serious problems with their man panties being bunched up too tight. God forbid someone have an opinion and enjoy something above something else around here.

  • After the last so so trailer and the awful poster released the other day I’ve like what they have done over the last two days. The new posters are great and the two new tv spots are epic. Can’t wait for this movie!
