Scott Bakula To Star In NBC Comedy Pilot ‘Table For Three’

EXCLUSIVE: Scott Bakula is set as the lead of NBC’ multicamera comedy pilot Table For Three (form. Daddy’s Girls). The project, written by Dana Klein and directed by Pam Fryman, centers on Pen (Christine Woods), a responsible, guarded, brilliant but emotionally challenged Harvard Medical School graduate who just returned from a stint with Doctors Without Borders to discover that her beloved dentist dad, Robert (Bakula), has become engaged to Pen’s high school classmate Holly (Nicky Whelan) – a 29-year-old bubbly blonde who happens to be the “mean girl” in high school. 20th Century Fox TV is producing, with Klein and Aaron Kaplan executive producing. For Bakula, Daddy’s Girls comes on the heels of a two-season run as one of the leads of the acclaimed TNT dramedy Men Of A Certain Age. He is the second of Men‘s 3 stars to book the lead of a broadcast pilot, along with Andre Braugher, set to star in the ABC drama Last Resort. Table For Three also reunites Bakula with NBC where he starred on Quantum Leap and recurred on Chuck. ICM-repped Bakula is next doing a major arc in the final 5 episodes of ABC’s Desperate Housewives.

  • Why don’t they just bring Quantum Leap back instead?

    • I think a remake of Quantum Leap would be a marvelous idea.

    • Quantum Leap was a great show. Put right what once went wrong and bring it back.

  • I adore Scott Bakula, but I agree this sounds like a dumb show. I wish they would redo Quantum Leap too or something new that is just as good. He was great in Enterprise too and that lasted five years, I think. I don’t like to see him playing these stupid roles and have the show fail through no fault of his at all.

  • Scott is a brilliant performer and NBC is wise to keep bringing him back. No one knows if this new show will be a success or not. I know lots of people (including the lady in the mirror) who thought “Quantum Leap” should have been named “Quantum Lame” until I watched it with an appreciation for the talent the “team” brought to the show each week. It is very possible that once this new show gets rolling it will develop and mature like QL did. I think it would be fascinating to have a conversation with Scott about what he hopes to bring to the show. If he brings his many talents, his “white hat”, and that impish sparkle in his eyes, I’m in!

  • I LOVE Scott Bakula! He acts, he sings, he plays piano & guitar! He even plays “Dr. Ruth”! Loved “Quantum Leap” & “Enterprise”. Hated “MOACA” – not a fan of Ray Romano. I agree the storyline sounds sketchy. Give him something real to do!!

  • I have no idea how good this show will actually be. None of us do and won’t until we see it. Having said that, though, I do absolutely ADORE Scott Bakula and have for a very long time. I’m disappointed that everything he gets cast into falls apart. MoaCA was brilliant, so was Quantum Leap. I really, greatly dislike Star Trek otherwise I probably would have watched that too. I’ve seen every movie he’s been in no matter how small. Long story short, if this show sucks and fails, I’m gonna be sad. I want Scott to come back and stay around for a while.

  • I personally think he is a great actor and deserves much better than lame comedies with lame script writers and directors. They should get him into a sci-fi series something cool. He excels in those! I loved Enterprise too, and hated when they stopped it for no reason! I seems that they have replaced many good old shows by new flimsy stories with weak handsome young actors.

I have no problems with that except they really suck so there is a little left for quality shows to watch. I only watch one show when I can it is a british one GOT The Game of Thrones fantasy and that is all. I am also sick of the camera techniques they use in most of the new american series to “make it cool” in the crime series, one gets dizzy and it has a cheap effect too.

I just really miss good sci-fi not some vampire stuff and non-stop shooting and slimy aliens but like the Star Trek, Deep Space, Enterprise kind! I am actually not old and did not grow up with those series however I love to and want to watch those. Where is quality entertainment? I had enough of “bubble entertainment” !

Get Scott Bakula a great series like QL, Enterprise and I can watch him in it till the end of time! I sure would like to see some of the main character actors too from Enterprise as they were great too!!! Then I will subscribe to american TV stations again!
