Lifetime Expands ‘Dance Moms’ Franchise To Figure Skating
On the heels of ordering a spinoff of reality hit Dance Moms set in Miami, Lifetime is looking to cross over the franchise to ice skating. The network and Dance Moms producer Collins Avenue are developing Ice Moms, a new docuseries about the world of competitive figure skating. It will center on the Dearborn, Mich.-based figure skating coaching duo of Laurie Vigilante and Adam Schmidt, who dutifully rule the rink and train their students who aspire to become champion skaters. “We’ve conquered the world of competitive dance with our hit Dance Moms and have great plans to expand the franchise to Miami,” said Lifetime’s EVP Rob Sharenow. “Now, we’re bringing the format to the intensely competitive world of figure skating and revealing the explosive dynamic between the kids, parents and coaches who all want to be the best.” Dance Moms has been posting series highs in its second season, including 2.5 million in total viewers and 1.3 million in adults 18-49.
Bring it on!!
How pathetic is it that the only reality shows the network for women can come up with are the most horrific examples of women behaving badly.
Apparently there is no shortage of those mental deficients who revel in publicly displaying their cruelty, cluelessness, and crassness both toward and simply around their children, or those children who have been placed in their care.
One has to believe there is at the very least a karmic price to be paid, both by those deluded, sick and selfish enough to participate in these productions, and by those who spend their time watching them. And as for the very special circle that surely must be reserved for those who play any role in producing these debasements of the species, I haven’t the courage to even imagine the potential horrors that (I hope) awaits them.
And the decline of Western Civilization continues.
Lifetime is just speaking to me these days!
Love it – I’ll definitely watch!
I don’t understand why they choose the rink in Dearborn – I haven’t heard of any champions coming out of this rink and yet the majority of the Champs right now are from various ice rinks in Michigan (Bloomfield Hills, Canton, Troy, Ann Arbor).
when will this air on tv?
