Ben Barnes Lands Lead Opposite Jeff Bridges In Warner Bros’ ‘Seventh Son’

EXCLUSIVE: Ben Barnes, who played Prince Caspian in Fox’s fantasy franchise The Chronicles Of Narnia, is in negotiations for the starring role opposite Oscar winner Jeff Bridges in Warner Bros/Legendary Pictures’ Seventh Son, an adaptation of Joseph Delaney’s young-adult series. He replaces Sam Claflin, who was previous tipped for the role. Barnes will play Tom, the young apprentice to an exorcist (Bridges) who combats ghosts and witches in the 1700s. The pair must battle the queen of evil (Julianne Moore) as Tom falls for a young witch (Alicia Vikander). Sergei Bodrov is directing; Thunder Road’s Basil Iwanyk, Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Lionel Wigram are producing, and Jon Jashni and Alysia Cotter are exec producing. Barnes, repped by WME and Luber Roklin and CAM in the UK, also has booked Millennium’s Gently Down the Stream opposite Robert De Niro, Diane Keaton and Amanda Seyfried, and has a role in the indie film The Words with Bradley Cooper.

  • Isn’t it a bit soon for a remake of Season of the Witch? By the way, in the novel, The Ben Barnes character is 13 years old.

    • ben is always the opposite of the character in the book he portrayed. in Prince Caspian, Caspian is supposed to be in his teens and blonde. Ben was 27. In Dorian Gray, Dorian is supposed to be blonde and with blue eyes. Ben is a brunette and has dark brown eyes.
in one website, it says there that the management of this film intended to make ben’s character a bit older so as to prevent the possibility of having it compared with Harry Potter.

      • Yeah, and I’m pretty sure the box-office receipts will be the opposite of Harry Potter’s.

  • Your’e right in the books he is 13 years old so he will be about 20 years too old for the job but I am sure he will do great!
