NEW DETAILS: “MSNBC And Keith Olbermann Have Ended Their Contract”; Lefty MSNBC About To Make Right Turn?

2ND UPDATE, SATURDAY AM: An MSNBC insider told this to Deadline today about Keith Olbermann’s departure Friday:

“This was all Keith’s choice. He has several times over the years said that he wants out of his contract. He never meant it until this year. He started lawyers negotiating twice this year. He stopped them in the spring. Then, about a month ago with the guidance of his new ICM team and a new LA manager (who were making zero $ on his current deal), he once again said he wanted to leave and this time they negotiated the full package.

“Because of all the false threats in the past, it was impossible for the network to know if he was really going to sign the final document yesterday. That’s why promos for his show were still running after he quit on the air. The network couldn’t really believe it or act on it until he said it on TV. They couldn’t tell the promo people to pull Keith’s show out of the cycle until they were sure. His staff learned he was quitting when they heard him say it on TV.

“Comcast has had no impact at all on MSNBC [yet]. Phil Griffin has complete authority. He makes deals without having to consult with anyone. He has made proposals over the years on the fly and in high-speed contexts where he is acting alone and with full authority. MSNBC is Phil Griffin’s network and no one at NBC thinks they have a better idea than Phil about what to do next.”

Rachel Maddow & Bill Maher React To Keith Olbermann’s Ouster

Adam Green, co-founder, Progressive Change Campaign Committee at BoldProgressives.org who “saved” Olbermann’s job the last go-round with MSNBC, had this to say: “The newly announced line up, including the addition of Cenk Uygur, consists of people who will undoubtedly continue Keith Olbermann’s legacy of holding power to account. But there’s a gnawing feeling among many MSNBC viewers that Keith blazed the trail for these other good hosts, Keith wasn’t ready to leave yet, and an important leader is now being sidelined involuntarily.” In his goodbye last night, Keith thanked the 300,000 folks who signed the PCCC’s Olbermann petition last November.

UPDATE FRIDAY PM: The word inside MSNBC is that Keith Olbermann, who’d been negotiating his out with one year left on his contract, can’t move to another cable/broadcast news channel right away, so he may be “on ice” for some time. On the other hand, he could go back into sports talk.

FRIDAY 6 PM: The statement (below) about Keith Olbermann’s exit came without warning. The Last Word With Lawrence O’Donnell will move to 8 PM weekdays on MSNBC, and The Rachel Maddow Show remaining at 9 PM, with The Ed Show starring Ed Schultz moving to 10 PM. Cenk Uyger of the liberal “Young Turks” will be taking over Ed’s 6 PM slot. The moves are simultaneous with new owner Comcast starting to show its hand over the broadcast network and cable NBCU after receiving FCC approval. “He’s been very problematic,” an NBCU source told Deadline about Comcast’s attitude to Olbermann. Officially, the Comcast takeover is next week. But word has been circulating for months now that the new owners have wanted to “tinker” with MSNBC and had many changes in store, including a right turn for the left-wing cable channel so that it represents both political points of view more evenly. It is well known that both Comcast chief Brian Roberts and NBCU chief Steve Burke have donated heavily to the Republican party with Burke more recently donating money to a few Democrats as well as heavily to Republicans. Roberts was a co-chairman of the host committee at the 2000 Republican Convention while Burke raised at least $200,000 for George W Bush’s re-election campaign.

Olbermann hosts the highest-rated program on MSNBC, which isn’t saying much since that channel’s ratings lag those of Fox News by a big margin. His Countdown averaged 1 million viewers, down a modest 10% from 2009. However, he’s known as a very polarizing figure and a loose cannon, and became more and more of a liability for MSNBC. In November, he was briefly suspended for making Democratic campaign contributions — and then reinstated. Olbermann’s exit follows yesterday’s departure of NBC primetime president Angela Bromstad in a housecleaning there.

STATEMENT REGARDING KEITH OLBERMANN: MSNBC and Keith Olbermann have ended their contract. The last broadcast of “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” will be this evening. MSNBC thanks Keith for his integral role in MSNBC’s success and we wish him well in his future endeavors.

        • You are partially correct. Olberman is the worst political commentator in the world. As a sports reporter, however, I thought he was pretty good. Too bad he lost his way and went into the political field for which he was totally unprepared.

          • Those of you who are encouraging Olbermann to return to sports are probably not old enough or remember, or are unaware, that, when Olbermann’s ESPN contract ended 13 years ago, he was essentially “drummed out” of the sports world. Either Sports Illustrated or The Sporting News reported that Olbermann was the “most detested man” in sports broadcasting.

Two years ago, Olbermann began showing up on NBC’s Sunday night football broadcast, but then suddenly disappeared and did not appear at all this year. Why? Because his appearance caused millions of viewers to switch channels and a lot of them did not switch back. You know the sponsors must have loved that.

So, before you decide that Olbermann is going to be the next Bob Costas, etc., remember that he is reviled by millions of American men who watch NFL football and voted for Reagan, and who is anathema among the sports broadcasting fraternity.

Olbermann is finished. He wrote his own epitaph.

          • Standing up to others is only brave if it’s true. Why would his ratings be even the fraction that they were unless there were people who were as cracked as he was to believe his truth. Would I read that junk for millions of dollars a year? Yes. Give him credit for that. Just like the shallow sports world audience, it was natural for his writers’ commentary that he read each night to reach a similar audience. The reports of his off air behavior resulted in his being tagged Keith OBGYN on the Judge Wyld Show. Let’s hope that channel surfing won’t be tarnished by seeing either him or Geraldo any more. Judge Wyld. (originator of counting the # of days the idiocy of Keith OBGYN has been alive on this earth.)

          • The “truth” issue is not a problem with commentators. It’s their job to offer opinion shaded in their own experience. Olbermann was simply an ass; an arrogant dunderhead when it came to discussing politics. In that regard, his “truth” was to simply paint those he disliked with a bucketful of lies.

The issue of “truth” is more problematic with their reporters like Andrea Mitchell. She is full of bunk and that hurts the NBC News brand more than Olbermann ever did. Credibility is all you have as a news org and when Mitchel or any of the other left-wing nuts inject their feeling into news stories, that’s the issue.

However, after he moved to MSNBC he believed it his duty to teach us how to think. I once learned that the worst mistake U can make is trash your opposition b/c you lose valuable time and all credibility as well reiterating what someone else said. This was Keith’s problem. He spent 1/2 of this time bashing FOx. Reilly, Hannity. He stole the worse, worst idea from O’Reilly. He never had an opposite side as Hanity/Colmes, Beckman, Williams on FOx. He blamed Palin for everything. He was not creative. Period

Did he complain when someone wanted Rush to die in his vomit? I sometimes would try to listen to him but was turned off by his hate, lack of originality and constant bashing. Did he criticize NPR for the firing of Juan Williams? Keith, sell some of your sport memorabilia. Nobody was to see you again.

          • The reason I didn’t like his show (I won’t say I didn’t like him, as I’ve never met him and got to know him) is the socialist views he espoused. I think he is completely wrong on about 95% of his views when it comes to politics, the economy, forein affairs, etc. etc. I’m glad he’s off the air as I think his anti American rhetoric and hateful attitude toward anyone who didn’t agree with his warped sense of reality, did no good for either MSNBC or for the public in general. I hope Comcast will make some more changes in the near future and get MSNBC to have a more balanced point of view in the future. There are still plenty of leftist networks out there. There are none that are truly balanced though. FOX NEWS has a large majority of conservative hosts, but to their credit, they do have some liberals and they always have folks from both parties on their shows to debate the issues. This is why FOX NEWS blows the competition out of the water in viewership. MSNBC has never learned the lesson that you can’t be just completely one sided and never have real conservatives represented. Their one supposed conservative show “Morning Joe” has one former republican, who’s a complete leftist, surrounded by a bunch of liberal Democrat commentators. I believe Comcast will do what it takes to make this network into a money maker. Profit is not an evil thing. If no one made profits, no one would work and there would be no one to take taxes from for the government and they would be more broke than they already are. Comcast has made the logical first step in the firing of Kieth Olberman to start the process of making the network into a profitable enterprise and also to restore some trust and faith into the NBC name. Smart move Comcast! When I here of more such promising actions I may actually tune in to MSNBC and see if they have become a network worthy of my time to watch.

            …Hate
            …Lies
            …Distortions
            …Declining audience over time

MSNBC as a left-leaning organization has had a decade to survive. GE and its Progressive lackey, Jeffrey Immelt allowed this division to go without accountability for way too long. The new Comcast owners will make decisions on the basis of improving ratings and its P&L.

In order for the Progressive message to survive requires state-owned and tax payer subsidized stations. Their message can’t compete in an open field of ideas that survive with what the majority wants. People recognize unfairness and will choose accordingly. Now it’s time to de-fund PBS and NPR and allow them to compete under the same free-market conditions.

Although I initially liked KO as a sports commentator, his total lack of judgement, education, and scruples made him no better than the “Three Stooges” of political discourse. Please turn off the TV and go pick up a history book.

          • What truth? That the banksters stole everything and transferred their debt onto people, and now we have to suffer austerity? That truth? He is a typical shill for the left-right paradigm. The problem (for him)is that it doesn’t work anymore. People just stopped watching his garbage, maybe never did. The profits of MSNBC go down the drain (no wonder they got a bail-out in exchange for shilling). Little ants began to realize that they outnumber grasshoppers by 1000:1, and will go grasshoppers’ way of life.

He was smug, full of bad ideas and was obsessed with George Bush and Bill O’Reilly, both of whom are better men than Olbermann ever will be. I will not miss him (except for laughs) and I have no doubt that literally millions feel the way I do. The man is a jerk—to the core. He’s also a lefty loon who was only too prepared to smear most anyone who didn’t agree with his ideas, almost all of which were wrong. In microcosm, he demonstrated how self-righteous the modern left has become. Disagree with these libs and you are not only wrong but bad. Ah, so tedious—as was Olbermann. Good riddance.

          • The problem was that Olberman is simply not the brightest bulb on the tree. He was like a sponge for the propaganda and spin spewed by the far left democratic socialist machine. After spending 20 years as a fairly successful sportscaster, he was ill prepared — educationally and intellectually to do serious political commentary. As such, he essentially became a caricature of the ‘angry progressive’.

He echoed EX-Speaker Pelosi that ‘unemployment checks are good for the economy because it’s money that goes straight to improving the economy..’. (?- How is money ALREADY CUT from the Fed, i.e. OUR TAX DOLLARS improving ANY economic sector?)

Olbermann’s a man-child who threw temper tantrums/emotionally-laden arrows to those who differed from his ‘utopia’.

’300,000 signatures’ – righhht. I’m thinking a couple thousand who signed their name numerous times. I liken it to ANY Illinois election..

Lastly, I believe you’re of the typical ‘Olber-fan’ variety, spelling his name incorrectly!

You may not know it, but Olbermann’s departure may HELP you retain some of the few remaining brain cells you possess. And maybe, MAYBE you can ‘still’ perform the task of rational thought. Fingers crossed.. Okay, buh-bye.

Again, a Democrat connection, not Tea Party or Palin or whatever. Then one of the shooting victims gets filmed later threatening to kill a Tea Party leader and has to be taken away by the police. Funny how little coverage that got from any of the liberal news sources.

          • Just like a liberal to repeat a falsehood. Sarah Palin NEVER said she could see Russia from her house. What she actually said was that Little Diomede Island and Big Diomede Island are only three miles apart. The one island in the Bering Strait belongs to Russia and the other to America. Palin was trying to use this geographical fact as a way of indicating that it is a small world and it is optimal if all mankind does its best to try and get along. This statement of hers was moved to complete caricature by those who detest a free-thinking, Christian, conservative woman. You have accepted the caricature as truth and so you have revealed more about yourself than you realize. Not surprised though in the least, since liberals function in a world of make believe where facts are optional.

You just parrot the talking points you heard with absolutely no critical thinking involved which makes you a hate filled hypocrite poisoning the National debate with your vitriol and bile. The people who rely on Ms. Palin are her family. She has been attacked by you and yours on the left since the day she was introduced to the Nation. Saturday night live had a parody where a laftist named tina fey made the comment “I can see Russia from my front yard.” The majority of leftists still believe Ms. Palin made the comment. The “cross hairs” that were used to target certain Congressional districts that the Conservatives believed they had a good shot of winning. There was nothing wrong, or new, with the targeted districts map. The previous election the democrats had used crosshairs on an identical map, except for districts targeted, including over her home district. The hate filled speech that President Bush was subjected to on a daily basis were far worse in every way than the mild tone the leftists have had directed at them so far. And if cross hairs make you hate someone, then you surely hate the Democratic Party for using cross hairs on their website as well, right?

As for “Lock and Load”… Do you put equal blame for Obama saying, “If they bring a knife, we’ll bring a gun” and “get in their faces”?

Sorry, I am sure you know all this stuff already. I’m not worried because a strong will person like you won’t let truth and facts get in the way of your raw hatred of a person simply for seeing things different than you do. All opposition must be lied about, ridiculed and slandered to give your voice credibility, right?

MSNBC still has fellow bilge spewers Larry O’Donnell and Chris Matthews to try to take up the slack for KO. Overall MSNBC’s ratings are a joke regardless of thier “lead” over CNN. Iam now being republican not once believe Saddam brought down the towers, our President whom you all hated for 8yrs GWB was a man who stayed the course and was only protecting your dumbass when he went to war in Iraq and Afganistan. Have you ever heard of Saddam killing people with chemical weapons, look it up on the net, there are pictures. Ignorance comes from not listening to both sides, i finally did, i was a democrat, intill i started watching how they were destroying war efforts in Iraq and Afganistan and getting solders killed by saying dumb and stupid things on nightly tv such as MSNBC at that time, and many demcrats degrading Bush, all for power of the office. God Bless President Obama, he is my President, and though i disagree with his policies i would never disrepect him or think he doesnt have my best interest at heart, but power is what drives many and i have seen it alot on the left and right.

Olbermann will be missed by the people who actually watch MSNBC. His departure will be most applauded by people who watch Fox. Frankly, steering a liberal news outlet to the right probably won’t do much for ratings. You’re not going to get the Fox audience to switch. And do you actually want them, anyway?

          • Oh–yeah. And their ratings were through the roof when they actually had the format you’re talking about. MSNBC’s viewership didn’t increase until they turned left. Why? Because no one wants to watch Fox News-Light when they can watch Fox News. And CNN–who is more in the middle–comes in dead last ever week. They’re even beaten by the sister network Headline News. So I expect MSNBC’s ratings to tank after this shakeup.

          • Speaking of truth, the truth is that many talking heads on cable both Left and Right are far more interested in insults and and demagoguery than civil debate because they think that is only way they can build up raings for their poorly-produced shows. This is just a new wrinkle on the age-old media scam that dates back to network radio in the 1940s. Fans of “right wing” commentator Father Couglin would pretend to attack “Left Wing” Walter Winchell or visa versa when in reality both broadcasters shared the same hostile views of both Hitler and Stalin. It was a fake feud that built up ratings for both. Even in entertainment, Jack Benny maintained a fake feud with Fred Allen and both “feuded” with a wooden dummy named Charlie McCarthy and his voice teacher Edgar Bergen, father of Candace Bergen. So much of broadcasting is fake for profit nonsense and all the talking heads should be taken with large grain of salt. Their job has nothing to do with truth, it is to get people fired up emotionally so they will keep tuning in.

Bill is as fair as it gets on the cable news networks. Beck isn’t about news but information but the left gets confused about that all the time. The left always cries about others but expects a pass on being correct or even civil. It’s a comical fact and a blast to see unfold on national TV. They think they’re at the same level as FOX but ratings prove that not.
The only thing Obama’s attacks on FOX have done is make them stronger. Maybe now NBC will be forced to control it’s people too!

          • Pox News,

What Sam M means about Beck is that his approach isn’t to be aggressively jabbing you with personal opinion. Rather, he gives you information for you to stand back and see the broader picture. What many Americans are doing is not seeing what’s out beyond the fringe. Aggressive Left & Right commentary is more narrow and focused to keep you looking in one direction or another. By standing back, taking a moment to pause, and watch what’s unfolding in front of you, you’re able to make the best decision for yourself. All Glenn Beck is providing is the information in hopes that your decisions are as responsible as possible. How wonderful it is that we still live in a country that allows us to have such options.

I’m proud to say that I can’t tolerate Rush or Hannity, just as proud as I am to say that I can’t tolerate Maddow or Schultz. I don’t condone their message, nor their beliefs. I just make sure to avoid their commentary because I have that option.

Ahhhh…it feels so free to be non-partisan. =)

Where is this intelligent discourse? Anyone who knows basic economic principles can tell you that the tax and spend policies of the democrats are driving this country straight into the ground. This country will soon be in major economic trouble (much worse than today) because of these backwards policies. It is just discourse, no intelligence here. If you want to have intelligent discourse, most of us are all for it, but we all know most dems have been brainwashed beyond the point of return.

Amplitude Jones, without another viewpoint, this pendulum will continue to swing aggressively. This becomes something that has a lack of control. Where there was #43, we now have #44. Once you, and anyone with a 180 degree opposition of your opinion, see what the overall agenda is doing, you’ll begin to understand that you too Amplitude Jones are just a pawn.

You set a trap and that’s fine. It’s respected. Unfortunately, I’m standing further back and seeing you sitting in an even larger trap. All I wish is for you to turn around and see what weapons are being used against you.

Extreme swings by both sides is exactly what they (the establishment) are asking for. For without chaos, there’s no means of “assigning order.” Stand back. Take a moment. Respect your neighbors. Respect your similarities. Respect your differences. There will always be more of WE THE PEOPLE than there are of them.

        Fast-forward on the fascism.

In the free market of ideas, Keith was a success. So they have to clamp down on the free market of ideas.

Yes, the market of ideas, of content, of information is now very, very expensive. A very tiny handful of powerful interests can mold it in their own vision, in their own interests.

Frankly, Keith was tame. Anyone who thinks he was a wild liberal has no sense of the actual political spectrum. He was center-left, fully mainstream.

But that’s just not feasible in Brand America. Pledge allegience to the corporations. Or don’t. They don’t care about you either way.

        It’s their country. Not yours.

How can we possibly measure whether Keith Olbermann was a success in the MARKET OF IDEAS??? I can tell you it wasn’t by the ratings! People are still free to watch what they want when they want. Is this like art where the uglier or more offensive it is the better it is??? I watched Olbermann not nightly but a lot and I never got the feeling that he stumbled on to a new way to do anything including the news or commentary.

Also I’m not ready to concede that MSNBC will be ‘following fox’ or make a hard change in philosophy.

And with Net neutrality being fooled with, I wonder where anyone who is smart enough to realize what is happening in the Corporation of the United States will be able to turn to get a glimpse into the truth of what is going on in our country. Free speech is not free and I suppose that those who control the networks would prefer a more business friendly ie republican tone to all ideas being put out there. Those of you who are celebrating Keith’s departure have no idea what this means in terms of the direction of free speech. When you finally wake up and see how your liberties have been eroded it will probably be too late.

Conservatives just want to stay away from socialism, communism, moral relativity, fiscal suicide, etc. Liberals are the ones trying to dumb down the population and replace independent thinkers with a bunch of sheep reliant on their benevolent overlords. And those are the NICE liberals – the nasty ones want a screaming mob.

        • Comcast “another right leaning” news organization??

If that becomes so, then there will be two, but I suspect FOX’s commentators will continue to be virtually alone in their island of conservatism surrounded of the progressive/liberal sharks of GE (MSNBC, NBC and the like) CBS, CNN, ABC, NPR, New York Times, Los Angeles Times and all told about 90 percent plus of all those who fill the roles of journalists these days.

The problem progressives/liberals are having today is that America is a center-right nation and moving more into a conservative direction. Also, Americans have more choices for information in order to help them determine their positions on the issues of the days, so when they are told distortions and outright lies by any commentator and especially by so-called news people, they know it and are turning against the liars and tuning off those who sell that garbage. This past election saw the best informed electorate in American history and we all know the message they sent.

How do you feel about your comment now that it’s clear he left because he wanted more than his $7.5 annual salary. Comcast had no part in this decision. I suspect you are unaffected because reality does not matter to Keith fans. He may well be able to obtain a larger salary some place else. Unfortunately there is no shortage of ignoramuses that like to exist in the leftist fantasy world, and our pathetic schools are producing more of them on a regular basis.

That’s not to say that there is plenty of room for good liberal analysis and some good snarkiness. Look at The Daily Show or Colbert.

Now if MSNBC could stop treating treat Sarah Plain as a major political figure and more like Ann Coulter — a calculating individual who says incendiary things to attract media attention — that would be perfect.

      • I’m a huge raging conservative and I agree 100%–LOLbermann may have started out okay but the show quickly devolved into just an hour of bitching about Fox and the right. Snore. At least Bill O’RLY and crew try to occasionally say something insightful…Olbermann became his own parody and ultimately torpedoed any chance that MSNBC would be taken seriously. The irony is that from what I’ve heard, he played a lot of internal corporate politics to ensure anybody who tried to keep him in check got axed, so he basically sowed the seeds of his own destruction. As for Palin…yeah, the sooner people stop obsessing over her and she goes back to Alaska, the better. 80% of the mystique that she and Beck hold comes from all the opposition emorage.

Socialism, in all forms, is a lefty agenda. Remember: Communism – 100 million dead and counting. The comma you were trying to correct him on to suggest he’s not smart is actually an optional comma. You must have missed that day in school. I was taught, and I am sure I am not only one, that the comma before “and” is optional. Now, I do always use it, but I know it’s not needed.

Can we drop the mentality of tying grammar with I.Q.? I have gone to college to get my B.S. in Chemistry and every single time I was tested for my I.Q. I came out with an “above average” score, but my grammar sucks due to being disabled along with speech impairment. People don’t realize how much grammar is tied to their speech. Now, does this make me stupid and make my political points invalid?

His hardhead approach to the shows tired format and flow was never more prevalent with the over used sign off of the # of days since Bush announced victory in Iraq. Not only was he unable to come up with any better bs but as the November elections approached you could sense from him an ever increasing seething attitude against the wave of opposition against the extreme liberal left which Oberman represented. From a pure business standpoint, Olbermann has been nothing but the “anchor store” of a failing liberal shopping mall. Even fox’s non-partisan programs, Brett Baier and Shepherd Smith (bordering on random tabloid), beat out MSNBC. The real problem was not the “liberal” subject matter, but the fact that all Olbremann and Ed Schultz do is bach fox and fox personalities to the point of meaninglessness. Even the insipid Matthews does not do this that much.

why are we to assume that MSMBC is going to change philosophy and be less liberal? Maybe they want to hire personalities that do not PUSH VIEWERS AWAY! Keep the bias -a bias MSNBC admits to- but cut out the abrasiveness, and that formula may win. Maybe MSNBC wants to be fact based and unbiased and compete better than CNN. I for one would like unbiased and more facts.

Although I probable agree with whats on FOX, I never watch it. I get the information they have everywhere else. I watched Keith and sometimes wathc Maddow and Matthews because I want another take on things.

Olbermann saw the rabid Bush-haters, many of them zero-tax-paying America-hating losers, and realize he had a niche constituency:People so lacking in critical thinking skills that he could manipulate their emotions and fool them into believing they had an “advocate.”

    • Having made a gentleman’s wager with a friend that Olbermann would be sacked when Comcast took over, I’ll be enjoying dinner with my friend. Keith Olbermann, with self-smitten smarminess, was not without value when he took on the Bush regime and its lying us into war. However when in a special comment triggered by criticism by Te Koppel, he equated himself with Edward R Murrow he had gone off a cliff. He is no Edward R Murrow.

While it’s true that ‘fair and balanced’ is a crock when the ‘facts’ presented are lies, Olbermann himself was no stranger to mendacity as he demonstrated when he threw Don Imus under the bus, lying about a sponsor withdrawing from Imus in the Morning. That sponsor, Bigelow Tea, was in the midst of negotiating a new advertising contract as the then current one was expiring. Bigelow and other sponsors remain as sponsors with Imus now. It should be noted that Olbermann was a frequent Imus guest for many years and, believe it or not, was employed by Fox ( a fact omitted from the bio that appeared on Countdown’s website).

Even those guests who appeared on Countdown were required to toe the Olbermann line. No deviation was permitted as became evident when Dana Milbank of the Washington Post became permanently a non-guest for having the temerity to not see a particular issue Keith’s way.

His oft repeated claim to have criticized Obama more than Fox personalities criticized Bush over eight years, is so much hot air as he continued to defend and promote the so-called health insurance reform which will enrich the insurance and pharmaceutical industries, ot to mention his failure to take Obama over the coals for Obama’s widening of the Afghan war. In short, Olbermann was and is a hypocritical creature with an inflated view of his own intelligence and, to speak plainly, a despicable individual.

Insult after insult and it’s obvious why Matthews is on the bottom of the heap. MSNBC is obsessed with negativism of Sarah Palin. If Matthews thinks she is such a “DO DO” why the every night obsession.

      2) How telling that a supposed hard core leftist like Oberman would thus be ousted from his “job” of enlightening the masses because he’s too darned greedy. He’s one of those “elite” leftist who want to share someone else’s wealth, but not his!

They could not help but insert their personalities because of their massive need for recognition, and acceptance. It would not have been a problem if they would have been decent journalist with a left leaning, but they decided to talk down to the American public instead of informing them. The country needs people with opposing views, but because these folks feel they have to counter Rush Limbaugh with his same tactics now we are going to be down to only 30 radical socialist on MSNBC.

He is mean spirited and if he is the voice of the left then I truly made the right decision to leave the Democrats and register Independent. Ed Schultz is a sexist and if one isn’t looking at the TV you’d swear he was Rush Limbaugh as he sounds exactly like him with the same lack of intellect and command of the issues.

disgusting: offensive to the physical, moral, or aesthetic taste.

left-wing: the radical, reforming, or socialist section of a political party or system.

ideologue: an impractical idealist; theorist; and often blindly partisan advocate or adherent of a particular ideology.

He was let go at ESPN and then KTLA and the Orange county Register. He landed this comedy gig on MSNBC and thought he was better than anyone else on the airwaves.
His average of 1 million a night is paltry and he wanted more money? Go Figure. The folks over at FOXNEWS aid little attention to him and that really irked him. So he spent time trashing all that were better than him. Sad, sad way to do business in the world of TV. I watched him from time to time to see if he learned anything new. Unfortunately he never did change and he has lanquished in the minor leagues of TV news comentary.
Not an idiot as some have said, just a sad excuse for a human. He will never learn to chnage and understand that there are two good sides to the argument and to present it for us smart people out in the real world to decide.

This is only the 1st move in my opinion. MSNBC has become nothing more than a psychotic, head-exploding left-wing nut channel. I love Morning Joe, but ONLY because they have both sides.

A funny thing is back a few months ago when President Oscumbaga claimed FNC was not “real news”. MSNBC shows nothing but prison shows and unemployed losers trying to rape little girls on Predator Raw.

He was one of those individuals, much like Rachel Madow, who think if you speak loud, clearly and with authority you are correct/right/ or. Just view their Nov 2010 election coverage…….it is truly embarrassing Chris Mathews & Larry O,’Donnell are speaking facts and quotes and Keith & Madow are rebutting with feelings……..it was a joke and an embarrassment to the quasi-nwtwork ……think of another era….swastikas …… Booming music…….Wagner……youth following….propaganda machine….Himmler. That is why the rallying cry……..never forget……never forget …..resonants with so many of “us”. Let’s see, in 2000, they botched the presidential election, thereby getting the WORST president in the world elected, along with his cronies. Second, let’s talk about half truths. Glenn Beck is notorious for telling lies and half truths. He has absolutely nothing to back up his claims. Okay, let’s be honest, both sides are ripping each other to shreds. • “All”? Really? So, everything is perfect now? This one change has made the world a paradise? Remarkable. I wish I could see the world You see. I can see plenty of things in need of fixing whether I like Keith Olbermann or not.

      • Seriously? You’re attacking him for using a *common phrase* because you’re so dense that you took “all” literally? Wow.

        Comment by CanofSand — Friday January 21, 2011 @ 9:23pm PST
        • Well, Sherry was the One choosing to use the word “all”. Using the expression, “And the world is now a better place,” would not necessarily provoked such a response from Me.

Plus, when I choose hurling insults at People on the Internet, I sign My actual name instead of an obscure/semi-anonymous ‘handle’ like “CanofSand” because, well, …, I am not a Coward.

Yeah, how dare Sherry use a centuries-old, thoroughly innocuous expression without seeking YOUR prior approval re: “acceptable wording.” When will we learn that you liberals are the bosses of everything?

Don’t try to make excuses for your thoroughly unwarranted attack prompted by absolutely NOTHING (except perhaps sheer lunacy).

      • Yes, people can just turn the channel. Why is the left, especially the far-left, want to silence talk radio and Fox News? They don’t have to watch. They can just turn the channel as well.

        Comment by PatriotGoddess — Friday January 21, 2011 @ 11:33pm PST
        • That is not how the left works. It never has been. Since Woodrow Wilson it has been the lefts objective to silence any and all opposing views. Whether it was Stalin, Mao, Hitler (socialist), pol pot, Sadaam Hussien, Castro, or Hugo Chaves. They all read from the same play book. The most amusing thing about the left is the fact that those I just mentioned targeted the very base of the Left when they took over. Professors, Gays, and those races deemed not as good as them. The cities in those countries were controlled by starvation or military police. You can still find the you tube where Obama calls for a national security force as well equipped and funded as the military. Just who exactly does he want to secure? After all we’re citizens.

So, claiming Someone wants to silence this group or that Person by means of the law sounds more like the manufacturing of weightless, invisible, intangible, inaudible, room-temperature-fire breathing Monsters supposedly hiding under the bed than anything else.
