Who’s Behind Twitter’s @ParamountFilms?

Hmm, I’m told it’s a multtalented actor-writer-director-producer angry at the studio. @ParamountFilms was set up two weeks ago:

twitterNot since we released Breakfast At Tiffany’s has Paramount been prouder to bring yellow face 2 cinemas with our fantastic The Last Airbender

Opening July 2 is a movie we @ Paramount are very proud of, The Last Airbender. See white kids pretending to be Asian in glorious fake 3-D!

Get use to these. If we at Paramount get our way, this is the only way you’ll be able to see movies in theaters http://twitpic.com/1o4fob

We @ Paramount Are proud 2 say that we’re sitting on loads of cash thanks to Iron Man 2. None of that cash will be going to make Anchorman 2

We have decided that if Will and Adam pay for Anchorman 2 out of their own pocket, we’ll release it. The ball is in your court @ghostpanther

We at Paramount are proud to announce that every film we release from now on will be in 3D! Why? To get more money from you dummies.

We @ Paramount are proud to announce that we have just green lit a reboot of 48 Hours starring @bowwow & @ZachEfron directed by Brett Ratner

We at Paramount are proud to announce that we just signed Mike Meyers to write and star in the sequel to his comedy classic The Love Guru!

Instead of funding Anchorman 2 we are doing a reboot of Hot Rod starring @danecook to be written & directed @andydick for release next year!

To all who are upset about about us not green lighting Anchorman 2, we at Paramount say screw you! We have more reboots to fund instead!!

  • All too true, but reboot fever hasn’t just taken hold at Paramount – all the studios are stricken with it. Every single civilian I talk to bemoans Hollywood’s lack of originality. Most people I know don’t even bother going to theaters any more. Got to stop cannibalizing and start originating.

  • I guess the obvious choice is Will Ferrell or his production partner…but everyone should be pissed off too. Anchorman was hilarious…people who didn’t see it in the theater certainly saw it on DVD & cable and we all would have gone in droves to the sequel. It’s just the kind of movie that every male between 12 & 50 would have gone to. As a movie nerd, my friends and I did nothing but quote that movie in the summer and fall of ’04…wake the fuck up, pay what you have to pay and green light the damn movie!!

In case you’re reading this, I love you Will Ferrell…in both totally gay and straight ways.

  • Well said and well deserved. Disgruntled writer / producer: keep on keepin on. These guys at Paramount can’t figure out much except how to find bimbps for Sumner to bumb uglies with. The execs they hire are a joke. They’d be better off giving Bob Evans the top job again…At least he has worked in features.

  • Maybe I’d give a crap if I actually wanted to see an Anchorman 2. Why all this bitching just because the world may or may not miss out on yet another freakin’ sequel?

  • oh yeah, because Anchorman was such a gem.

I’d rather catch a Zac Efron flick than a Will Ferrell one any day.

  • Awesome. Finally someone addresses the plague that’s sweeping through Hollywood. No more original stories. Either everything is a pre-existing property or a shot-for-shot remake a la Nightmare on Elm Street. Not that I’m rooting for Anchorman 2 as that definitely falls into that category, but why not start spending money on something original? I’ll even accept 3D as long as it’s original 3D! Kudos to the twitter poster!

  • Love it. Who’s doing the reboot of The Untouchables?

I hope it’s Taylor Lautner as Ness and Zach Efron as Capone. He could be blond…

    Paramounts release stable 2010

Saw Shutter Island loved this great horror pic
    Iron Man 2 –fell asleep
Shrek, Ent Weekly had the release date for May 14 pushed forward. We shall see
The last Airbender commercial looked sweet, but hey If I’m Korean or Chinese I might look really white and act like a real white person, so I don’t see @paramount’s quip. After all Ming Na cannot be in every other movie as the only “ Asian star” Everyone else is an import as if Asians don’t have a film festival in SF, LA, NY, Toronto etc. I mean isn’t Hollywood remaking those Chinese detective stories and the Green Hornet. Bruce Lee would be proud of Hollywood ( satire)
Don’t out him Nicky let him kick their ass for a few months.
