MTV Picks Up ‘Teen Wolf’ To Series

MTV_Logo_2010I hear MTV has officially ordered Teen Wolf to series. The pickup deal, held up by sorting out details with rights holder MGM, has now closed. The order is believed to be for 12 episodes. The reinvention of the 1985 movie starring Michael J. Fox has been a hot project at MTV, which ordered a pilot presentation in the summer. It revolves around Scott McCall (Tyler Posey), a dorky high-school student who gets a rush of new powers, including the ability to attract girls, after a wolf attack. Criminal Minds creator Jeff Davis wrote Teen Wolf for MTV and is executive producing the series with Rene Echevarria, Marty Adelstein and Michael Thorn. Tyler Hoechlin, Crystal Reed and Dylan O’Brien co-star on the show, which had already been staffing. This is MTV’s third series pickup in the past 3 weeks. The cable network also ordered scripted pilot Skins to series, and also picked up animated comedy series Good Vibes.

  • If it’s half as good as Criminal Minds (especially the first season), it should be great.

  • When was the last time MTV had a good animated series? Is it because they’re so cheap?

  • No joke, Ethan, and with Rene Echeveria in the mix, expect the same sense of invention and attention to character that he’s brought to all his past great work. This is going to be a fun show.

  • Anyone involved with this is guilty of the slow, calculated murder of originality.

  • this could be somewhat decent as long as they remember to keep it a metaphor for puberty
    but…this is mtv
so it will most likely be prepubescent humor and no actual substance

  • I thought MTV stood for Music Television.

    • Are you joking misterburns? MTV hasn’t been Music Television since I was little. This is actually an interesting concept for a series though. I remember seeing Teen Wolf years back. If they do it right, this might make for an interesting series.

    • The M in MTV does not stand for Music. Nor does it stand for Money. They are cheap bastards.

  • What’s next, the TV adaptation of Dave Chapelle’s Half Baked or a movie about The Price is Right:The story of Bob Barker?
