CANNES: “We Were Young, Good-Looking, And Stupid. Now We’re Just Stupid.”
Mick Jagger arrived in town to promote his Rolling Stones docu Stones In Exile and summed up his past and present life with the above quote. The hour-long film charts the making of the Stones classic Exile On Main Street. The BBC has already broadcast the documentary, while NBC’s Late Night With Jimmy Fallon showed clips last week. Jagger introduced the film in pantomime French. The singer said that sometimes he didn’t even recognise people in the footage unearthed from some 40 boxes of material kept in the Stones’ private archive. One 8-year-old boy who’d been used as a drugs mule by his dealer father had completely escaped his memory. Mick then played dumb during the press conference, claiming not to understand some questions. It’s bewildering why the highly intelligent Jagger who attended the London School Of Economics still likes to put himself across as so, well, stupid.
Mick did not spend time at the London School of Economics for nothing. Word has it he personally fires people with his trademark grin.
What, now Mick wants some Sympathy?
I’m a huge Stones fan and Exile is their best album. I have been watching all of Mick and Keith’s publicity push for the re-release and I can’t believe that on Jimmy Fallon, Larry King, etc. there is absolutely no mention of Mick Taylor. He is barely even seen in the clips I have seen from the movie. Mick Taylor deserves some respect for his amazing contribution on the album.

I think the word Mick was looking for to describe them now is “transparent”.
Who is this guy Mick Jagger anyway? He looks like my grandfather. And no one I know can find him on facebook so he can’t be that famous.

Jagger’s not an idiot. I’m sure “don’t recall” is a lot easier than explaining some of the wild things they did when younger.
Saw them years ago during Steel Wheel’s tour. Great band.
To the person who complained about the band not giving Mick Taylor credit… Mick Taylor was actually asked to contribute an overdub guitar session for the bonus tracks part of the Exile reissue so he met with Mick about it
